(THUNDER BAY, ON) โ€“ย A suspect who fled from police after a January 14th, 2019 collision in the Court Street area in front of Renco Foods was again spotted and stopped by police. The suspect again fled, but this time the foot pursuit ended with an arrest and charges.

A Thunder Bay Police Service Officer has arrested the suspect who fled after a January 14th, 2019 collision.

The officer observed the accused driving in the area of Christie and McLeod Streets just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30. The accused was known to be a disqualified driver with outstanding warrants.

The officer attempted a traffic stop on McIntosh Street, at which point the accused exited the vehicle he was driving and fled on foot down a back alley.

The officer engaged in a foot pursuit, but anticipated the suspectโ€™s route and was able to cut him off and complete the arrest on the sidewalk area of Christie Street.

Stephan PARR, 40, of Thunder Bay has been charged with:

  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited
  • Resist Peace Officer.

As the result of the ongoing investigation into the Jan. 14 incident, PARR was also charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Stop After Accident
  • Flight From Peace Officer.

He appeared in court Thursday morning and was remanded into custody with a future court date.

PREVIOUS INCIDENT

A Thunder Bay Police Service officer attempted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Court Street near Ambrose Street just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019.

The person driving a black sedan ignored the officerโ€™s lights and continued down Court Street. The officer was in the process of discontinuing when he observed the vehicle striking a van that was travelling southbound near Renco Foods.

The vehicle came to a stop in the 100 block of Court Street South, at which point it is believed the driver fled on foot eastbound through the parking lot of Renco Foods and toward Johnson Avenue.

Police were unable to locate the suspect following a search of the area.

Through the course of the investigation police have identified the suspect and continue to search for that individual.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld at this time, but the Thunder Bay Police Service is strongly encouraging this individual to turn themselves in.
