ATV Driver arrested and charged with drunk driving related charges.

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Fort Frances Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult male driver with impaired driving on February 3, 2019 at 2:20 p.m.

During routine motorized snow vehicle (MSV) patrol on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trails surrounding Fort Frances, officers stopped a 1995 all-terrain vehicle. Upon speaking with the male driver officers suspected the driver had alcohol in his body. The driver failed the Roadside Screening Device and was arrested and transported to the Fort Frances OPP detachment, where he underwent further testing.

As a result, Jim ANDERSON, age 50, of Fort Frances has been charged with;

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Drive off-road vehicle – no insurance, contrary to section 15(1) of the Off-Road Vehicle Act
  • Drive off-road vehicle – no permit, contrary to section 3(1) of the Off-Road Vehicle Act

ANDERSON was released on a Promise to Appear in the Fort Frances Court on February 25, 2019.

Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly and don’t drink and drive.
