(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – DRINKING AND BREACHING BAIL CONDITIONS IN SIOUX LOOKOUT GETS WOMAN ARRESTED
LAKEHEAD SECOND YEAR LAW STUDENT STANDS IN AS DUTY COUNSEL AND DOESN’T SEEM TO PERFORM VERY WELL.
A 25 year old SERENA MUCKUCK appeared by telephone in W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court today, Sunday February 10,2019 from the Sioux Lookout OPP Station.
His Worship, Bernard Caron is presiding. Provincial Crown Andrea Mason is here along with Duty Counsel Lianne Roberge and two second year law students from Lakehead University.
MUCKUCK was arrested last evening by OPP for 3 alleged breaches of bail conditions. She was already near top of bail ladder for previous alleged offences. Her last release was a surety recognizance.
MUCKUCK is alleged to have been out drinking last night past her 6pm to 6am curfew and contacting a previous alleged victim.
Crown Attorney Mason is not consenting to the release of MUCKUCK.
Lakehead University second year law student Cole Boucher stands to address the court and the first thing he requests is a Section 517 publication ban. This means that evidence or reasons given at a bail hearing for Muckuck cannot be published. It appears that Boucher believes these breach allegations will go to a preliminary inquiry and then to a jury trial. He might be expecting a large media turnout in Sioux Lookout for this bail hearing. He appears to have no proposed bail plan put together for MUCKUCK but he’s damn sure he wants a publication ban.
Not sure where he learned about Section 517, but he appears to have no clue how it works.
MUCKUCK is remanded into custody. Her next court appearance will be in bail court tomorrow in Sioux Lookout.
