(KENORA, ON) – KENORA OPP ARREST MAN FOR ASSAULTING WOMAN, SMASHING HER TV AND DESTROYING HER CAR WINDOWS.
IN FRONT OF FOUR CHILDREN WHILE OUT ON BAIL.
Appearing this morning, Sunday February 10,2019 via telephone from the Kenora OPP Station in Bail Courtroom 104 is 34 year old ANDREW SKEID
It’s W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court today. His Worship, Justice of the Peace Bernard Caron is presiding. Provincial Crown Andrea Mason is here along with Duty Counsel Lianne Roberge and 2 Lakehead Law Students.
GOOD JOB BY OPP OFFICERS
Kenora OPP arrested SKEID last evening after he allegedly assaulted a woman in front of 4 children, destroyed her TV and then the windows of her vehicle. SKEID has previous assault charges and was out on recognizance with orders not to contact his victim.
SKEID is facing charges of assault, mischief and breach of recognizance.
Lakehead University second year law student Andrew Domacina stands to address the court and the first thing he requests is a Section 517 publication ban. This means that evidence or reasons given at a bail hearing for SKEID cannot be published.
It appears that Domacina believes these breach, assault and mischief allegations will go to a preliminary inquiry and then to a jury trial. He might be expecting a huge media turnout in Kenora for this bail hearing. I’m not entirely sure he knows the difference between a summary and indictable offfence.
It’s kind of funny what they teach these kids in law school.
SKEID is remanded into custody and will appear in Kenora Bail Court tomorrow.
