(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON)- On Saturday February 9, 2019, a member from Mississauga First Nation Police Service with the assistance from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Sault Ste Marie OPP Canine Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit responded to an armed robbery that took place at a cigarette store on Highway 17 on the Territory of Mississauga First Nation.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., a masked Caucasian male with a slim build, approximately 5’8″ to 5’10” tall, short reddish hair, wearing a dark zip up hoodie, light blue baggy jeans and white running shoes entered the store and brandished a handgun and pointed it at two females in the store and requested the female worker behind the counter to open the register and hand over money.
A female patron was requested to hand over her cell phone. The suspect left in an unknown direction and in an unknown vehicle with over $2000 in cash.
The investigation is continuing.
