Academy Police Presence – At Least 1 Male in Custody

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – We have received tips regarding a strong police presence on Trillium Way in Academy this afternoon.

Information on our news desk tells us that a male was pulled over in a vehicle and was placed in the back seat of a Thunder Bay Police Service cruiser. The males’ handbag was placed on the hood of the vehicle and searched. His street name is said to be “Tony”.

Shortly after the traffic stop was initiated, numerous police vehicles swarmed the neighbourhood, converging on the scene and a unit suspected to be linked to the male.

Residents in the area tell TRCCTB.COM that the male is a drug dealer and that he sells out of the unit that police entered. Police are still on scene investigating the unit as the time of this writing.

The invasion of Thunder Bay by southern Ontario gang members seems to have no end in sight. Thunder Bay Police Service along with the Ontario Provincial Police have been working around the clock to clean up these streets.

We will be able to obtain more information once the accused appears in bail court this morning. What we can speculate based on the information we have at hand is that this is yet another southern Ontario, drug slanging gang member. If so, he was likely armed as well, most are.

If anyone has additional photos or information of the police presence or any other incidents in town, please email them to
