(THUNDER BAY, ON) – KNIFE ATTACK AT THE CIRCLE K LANDS LONGLAC 58 WOMAN ANOTHER 99 DAYS IN JAIL.
BROOKE HARDY WAS WANTED ON WARRANTS BUT NEVER MADE THE WANTED WEDNESDAY LIST.
WITH STATUTORY RELEASE, BROOKE HARDY WILLL BE BACK ON THE STREETS OF THUNDER BAY IN THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY.
Appearing in Courtroom 102 on Friday March 1,2019 to plead guilty and be sentenced before Her Honour, Justice Elaine Burton is a handcuffed 22 year old BROOKE HARDY.
Crown Attorney Katrina Van Kessel is here along with Defence Attorney John De Bakker.
HARDY is handcuffed and escorted into the prisoner’s box by TBPS Special Constables. She’s wearing a gray shirt with the “Puma” logo on it and blue jeans. Her hair is tied back.
HARDY is pleading guilty to crimes again today.
On February 1,2019 at 2:02pm, BROOKE HARDY entered the Circle K convenience store located at 915 Red River Road with a knife. She went behind the counter and lunged at the store clerk with a knife.
The store clerk was able to hold her back to avoid injury and wrestle the knife away from HARDY.
The entire incident was captured on video surveillance.
HARDY declared “Just charge me” and was able to flee the store.
TBPS Officers responded quickly to the scene and were able to arrest HARDY nearby. She was on probation and bail at the time of this incident.
Even though HARDY was wanted on warrants at the time, the Director of Communications at TBPS never featured her on Wanted Wednesday. The Director also never notified the public about the good work TBPS Officers did in apprehending HARDY.
HARDY is a band member of Longlac 58 Indian Reserve who now resides in Thunder Bay. Her grandparents were alcoholics. Her parents were alcoholics and drug addicts.
HARDY grew up in a crack house. Her father now lives sober lifestyle with stepmother.
HARDY is a jingle dancer at PowWows and used to have a job at a Subway restaurant.
Her criminal record is both adult and young offender and has numerous convictions including violence.
There is a joint submission before the court. Lawyer John de Bakker has negotiated a good deal for his client. HARDY will be sentenced to an additional 99 days in jail going forward and 18 months of probation. She is ordered to provide her DNA and has a weapons prohibition for 5 years. The knife is forfeited to the Crown.
HARDY is also ordered not to attend the Circle K and to stay away from the clerk.
