(THUNDER BAY, ON) – We have yet another weekend knife point robbery to report happening in Thunder Bay.
Around 6:00 am on Sunday March 10th, 2019, a person walked into the Esso located at the corner of Memorial Ave and Central Ave demanding cash from the store clerk.
A knife was pulled out of the suspects sleeve as the demands were repeated. You can see the knife in the thief’s hand in the photo.
A small amount of cash was stolen and the robber exited the store.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers arrested a female linked to an early Sunday morning assault with a motor vehicle and a separate armed robbery of a gas bar.
Paramedics were dispatched to the 300 block of University Drive just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, following reports a male had been struck by a motor vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
As a result of an ongoing investigation detectives were able to identify the driver.
Meanwhile, officers responded to the reported robbery of an Esso Gas Bar on Memorial Avenue just before 6 a.m. that same day.
Police learned a woman entered the gas bar brandishing a knife and demanded money from the clerk.
Through the course of their investigation, detectives were able to identify the female suspect. Police also learned the robbery suspect was the same person connected to the earlier assault.
A 38-year-old Koral Hamilton from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Operation Causing Bodily Harm
- Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm
- Robbery With a Weapon
- Disguise With Intent
The accused appeared in bail court this morning and was denied bail. She will appear again in bail court on Wednesday where she will have another chance to be released. Police have made arrangements to transfer her to the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.
