(THUNDER BAY, ON) – This evening around approximately 7:15 pm a young woman was walking down Algoma Street South when she saw a young male that was riding a bike with a chainsaw in his hand.
The woman told TRCCTB.COM that the male had stopped his bike, looked at a few people across the street and revved up the chainsaw twice. This happened across the street from a known drug dealers house. He then fled the scene and went up Ambrose Street.
Description of the male is between 18 and 24 years old and Indigenous to Canada.
Startled and concerned, the woman dialed 911 to report what had happened. The Thunder Bay Police Service cruisers arrived with two minutes flat and apprehended the male suspect.
“Thank you so much to our police for doing a great job catching losers like this. I have never seen anyone try something like this yet, but I guess there’s a first for everything, right? 😕” – Anonymous
Yet another quick response to another potentially dangerous situation de-escalated by the Thunder Bay Police Service.
UPDATE: Police later released the man and did not lay any charges. They determined he did not threaten anyone, further they determined he did not own the chainsaw or the bike. The suspect claimed to have found both items in a back alley.
