(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Yet another outbreak in the city of Gastroenteritis to report on. The Thunder Bay District Health Unit along with the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre have declared an outbreak situation at Hogarth Riverview Manor in the Willow Unit.
The intestinal incident also known as the stomach flu includes symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and fever. Children and senior are most susceptible to this untreatable outbreak, so staff is working hard at prevention.
Visitor restrictions are in place along with the following measures to protect the health of hospital patients, staff and the public:
- Children visitors are not permitted during the outbreak
- Only care partners are permitted to visit
You can help prevent the spread of the outbreak with the following:
- Hand washing for 15 seconds or longer, 0r with hand sanitizer.
- Avoid the outbreak area.
- Cough into your sleeve, not hands.
