(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A One Woman was found dead this morning north of the city. Although few details are available at the moment, we have heard from reliable sources that a woman was found shot dead.
Ontario Provincial Police are on scene investigating the shooting-death of a woman on Highway 527, the same highway where a young Toronto male was found shot to death earlier this year. According to a source close to the family of the deceased woman, this incident did not involve gangs or drugs.
The incident is located about 11kilometres down highway 527 roughly 1 kilometre south of Gibson’s Road on the way to Armstrong.
Police became aware of the situation around 7:00 am this morning and quickly responded to the scene.
People are asked to avoid the area, as investigators are working trying to piece together this puzzle. The road is partially closed, with one lane of access still available.
Update: 4:46pm, police release the following:
“On the 5th of April 2019 at 7:00 am members of the Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a report of a sudden death located on Hwy 527.
Police attended the scene and located a deceased female. No foul play is suspected.
At this time the OPP are assisting the Coroner’s office with the ongoing investigation. “
