(NIPIGON, ON) – Members of the Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police detachment engaged in the “Easter Weekend Traffic Initiative which yielded a traffic stop for a driver that was speeding in excess of 140 kilometres per hour.
As a result of the traffic stop, Constable Luke Morrow of the Nipigon Detachment stopped a stunt driver at 145 KPH.
The traffic stop occurred in the eastbound lane of Highway 11/17 through Hurkett.
An immediate licence suspension and vehicle impoundment was levied against the irresponsible and dangerous driver.
The driver was charged with Stunt Driving and will appear in court at a later date.
Speeding is dangerous and puts not only the life of the driver at risk, but everyone else on the road. Please remember to drive safely and keep in mind that people die every year due to excessive speed.
