Social Media Gambling/Lottery Play, Thunder Bay Police Warn

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Economic Crime Unit has received complaints regarding unlicensed lottery or raffle groups operating on social media.

As a response the police service is reminding the public that legislation governing all lotteries requires licensing.

Operating a lottery without a license is an offence and could result in criminal charges.

Police would also like to remind the public to avoid unlicensed lotteries and raffles as they may be fraudulent.

  1. The two women running the “Play Thunder Bay” facebook page should be in jail. Blatant disregard for our laws and they have likely already pocketed multiple tens of thousands of dollars each for this scam. And the idiots going along with it aren’t much better, their greed at winning a “lottery” and getting some “prize” blinded them to the fact they were contributing to the illegal and very profitable scam these women were running.
