Three Nailed For Drunk Driving Related Incidents

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – Members of the Atikokan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy keeping the roadways and waterways safe from impaired drivers this weekend. Three separate incidents occurred in the Atikokan area, resulting in a number of charges.

Β In the first incident, on May 17, 2019 at 6:25PM a local business in the area of Main Street in Atikokan called the OPP to report a possible impaired driver. Members of the local detachment attended the area, and located the suspect vehicle parked on Main Street. The officers approached the vehicle and engaged the male driver in conversation and developed the suspicion that he had alcohol in his body.

The male participated in testing at the roadside and as a result was arrested and transported to the local OPP detachment where he underwent further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Robert HERR, 54 years of age, of Atikokan, has been charged with the following:

  1. Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration above 80 Milligrams contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

In another incident, on May 19, 2019 at approximately 9:37PM, a member of the Atikokan OPP detachment was conducting patrol in Atikokan when he observed a vehicle pull out of a driveway on Mercury Avenue. The officer suspected that the driver may be impaired by alcohol. The member conducted a traffic stop on O’Brien Street, where the vehicle failed to stop immediately.

As a result, the female driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to the local OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Bobbi-Jo MOSBECK, 49 years of age, of Atikokan, has been charged with the following contrary to the Criminal Code,

  1. Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration above 80 Milligrams contrary to section 320.14(1)(b),
  2. Operation While Impaired contrary to section 320.14(1)(a).

In the third investigation, on May 20, 2019 at 9:23PM, a member of the Atikokan OPP was contacted by a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) officer who advised that he had a male in his custody that was impaired by alcohol in a vessel. The officer attended the area and commenced an impaired investigation.

Based on his observations and information provided by the conservation officer, the male was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Atikokan OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Michael FOGG, 41 years of age, of Atikokan has been charged with the following contrary to the Criminal Code:

  1. Operation While Impaired contrary to section 320.14(1)(a),
  2. Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration above 80 Milligrams contrary to section 320.14(1)(b). Β 

All three parties were released on Promise to Appear and are scheduled to attend court at the Atikokan Ontario Court of Justice on June 26, 2019.
