(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Flooding in rural parts of Thunder Bay and surrounding area have spawned the following schoool bus issues.
Rural students attending city schools whose afternoon school bus drop-off location is within an area affected by the current flooding will be picked up from school at their regular scheduled time and reasonable attempts will be made to deliver them safely. However, parents are asked to make other arrangements to pick up their students from school if possible.
School buses will not travel on roads that are closed or that have water across them.
If a student cannot be delivered to their scheduled stop safely, the bus company will contact the parent to arrange drop-off at another location. Parents are also asked to contact their school bus operator to arrange drop-off at another location if they are aware that their stop is not reachable.
As buses must reroute around road closures and flooded areas, delays are expected.
Early Whitefish Dismissal
Due to rising water levels on the Whitefish River & road closures, Whitefish Valley PS is closing early today.
While buses have been sent to pick students up, parents/guardians are asked to pick up their children as soon as possible if they are able.
Please call the school 475-3181 if you have any questions or concerns.
