(SHABAQUA, ON) – On June 11, 2019 at approximately 7:50 a.m., an officer from the Shabaqua Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded thank o a report of theft of gas from a business in Upsala.
The officer located the vehicle on Highway 17, west of Ivar Road, and conducted a traffic stop. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
37-year-old Stanley Ameralik, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC,
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) CC
The accused was held for a video court appearance and remanded into custody at the Thunder Bay District Jail A.K.A “The Algoma Bed & Breakfast”.
