(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Although the heat warning has been issued all around Thunder Bay, it has not been issued for the city.
Please hydrate yourself properly. Below is the heat warning issued by Environment Canada.
Heat Warning in effect for:
- Kakabeka Falls – Whitefish Lake – Arrow Lake
- Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
- Upsala – Raith
A heat event is expected today and Tuesday.
Today and Tuesday daytime high temperatures are expected to be near thirty degrees and night time low temperatures in the high teens, providing little relief from the heat. Humidex values are expected to be in the mid thirties.
A low pressure system is expected to move through the area Tuesday night into Wednesday bringing cooler temperatures behind it.
Extreme heat affects everyone.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
