Yerxa was arrested while allegedly in possession of stolen DeWALT power tools on July 12th, 2019. Police have charged him with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. Yerxa has a number of outstanding charges working themselves through the justice system already. Those charges are:

  • Assault.
  • Aggravated assault.
  • Fail to comply with bail x2.
  • Theft x2.

The Crown is not willing to consent to Yerxaโ€™s release without an appropriate surety. Court hears that Yerxa was just released on June 7th and has wound up back in court with new allegations against him. Further, there are secondary ground concerns regarding the release of Yerxa.

Secondary ground concerns indicate that the Crown believes that there is a substantial risk that the accused may become a public safety concern or reoffend should they be granted release.

Duty counsel tells the court that they will contact Yerxaโ€™s parents to inform them about the steps they need to take to become his surety and requests a remand until Monday. The Justice of the Peace grants the remand and orders Yerxa to remain in jail until at least Monday, where he will appear in a Fort Frances court room in an attempt to get released from jail.
