ANISHINABEK POLICE OFFICERS ASSIST IN ARREST OF DRIVER WHO WAS WANTED ON SEXUAL ASSAULT WARRANT BY OPP.

This is the story that the Director of Communications and mainstream media won’t tell you.

The following allegations are before the court.

On the afternoon of Thursday July 18, 2019, a 911 call was received from a woman who stated a driver was not letting her out of vehicle. Thunder Bay Police responded quickly to Arthur and Selkirk area where a traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle was in park but still running. The officer received a fake name from the driver. He asked driver. He instructed the driver to turn off the vehicle. The driver did not. The officer reached in to turn the key off as the driver SHIFTED HE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE AND HIT THE GAS PEDAL.

The TBPS Officer narrowly missed serious injury.

As the officer got into vehicle it became quickly obvious that the fleeing driver was in complete disregard for public safety.

The fleeing driver sped back to the Fort William Reserve where the hardworking ANISHINABEK POLICE OFFICERS quickly boxed in the vehicle.

Thunder Bay Police arrived to take 54 year old HAROLD JACOB MACLAURIN into custody
MACLAURIN is facing several criminal charges.

  • operate conveyance dangerous manner
  • obstruct Police Officer by giving a false name
  • assault police officer
  • breach of probation order to not be behind the wheel of a motor vehicle

Additionally, MACLAURIN was wanted by OPP for sexual assault on a woman and breach of probation from June 6,2019.

MACLAURIN has a lengthy criminal record with failing to appear for court and breaching court orders, so he is not a candidate for a quick release bail.

A bail hearing has been set for July 24,2019 as MACLAURIN will head to the overcrowded Thunder Bay Jail until then.

Big thanks to our news tipster for this story.

AND BIG THANKS TO THE THUNDER BAY POLICE, ANISHINABEK POLICE AND OPP for all their efforts.

Another massive fail by the Director of Communications at TBPS and his buddies over at local media. They just don’t seem to be interested in highlighting all the good work done by police.

  1. Seems that repeat offenders continue to offend without consequence.

Gladue to the rescue as usual. Something wrong with a “justice” system that doesn’t administer nor maintain justice for a select segment of our population..
