(DRYDEN, ON) – This afternoon, the Dryden High School was placed in a “Hold and Secure” for a short period of time. This means that the exterior doors of the school were to be locked along with classroom doors as well as students and staff to remain in classrooms while educational activities continue.
The “Hold and Secure” was initiated due to safety concerns regarding illegal substances possibly in the school.
Around 1:50 pm the “Hold and Secure” was lifted.
We have information from a student that tells us what they say they saw happen during the “Hold and Secure”. They say that the hold and secure was called over the intercom during third period followed by an announcement that anyone who didn’t comply with the rules of the hold and secure would be severely punished as much as he possibly could within his power.
The student continues to tell us that everyone who was in the hallways had to goto the library and everyone else who was in class had to stay in class. Students phones were removed from them during this time, the student tells us.
The student says that a bunch of people were brought into the office where a police officer was standing. Teachers walked by with gloves on carrying big bags. Students at this point believe the “Hold and Secure” was ordered so that lockers suspected to have drugs in them could be opened and bags searched by the police officer.
The student continues to tell us that numerous kids, their lockers, phones and personal belongings had been searched.
