Woman Assaulted, Confined and Taken on a Dangerous Ride

(THUNDER BAY, ON) โ€“ On July 12th a woman was not only assaulted, but she was also forcibly confined against her will. Once again, Thunder Bay Police Service swooped in and arrested the man alleged to be responsible for the traumatizing experience.

โ€Saw this yesterday. Girl tried getting out and he pulled her back in by her hair like 3 times. We ran from ontario to memorial n chased the car down to get the plate and another neighbour followed. We both called cops and they were quickly stopped glad they got this piece of trashโ€ says an anonymous source.

The alleged victim stated on Facebook โ€œIโ€™m the woman. I have bi polar disorder and sometimes alcohol effects me horribly. I drank too much and he was trying to stop me from hurting myself and get me home.โ€. The alleged victim and accused are known to each other.

31-year-old Kevin Linklater was picked up by the Thunder Bay Police Service and charged with the following:

  • Assault.
  • Forcible confinement.
  • Operate conveyance in a manner dangerous to the public.
  • Operating while prohibited.
  • Breaching bail conditions โ€“ curfew.
  • Breaching bail conditions โ€“ no alcohol.
  • Breaching bail conditions โ€“ curfew.

Linklater is already going through the courts for an incident that is alleged to have happened on June 16th, those charges are:

  • Break and enter to commit theft at an address on Simcoe Street.
  • Failure to comply with probation order โ€“ Keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
  • Breaching bail conditions โ€“ not attend an address.

The Crown takes a strong stance and does not consent to Linklaters release citing this is a reverse-onus situation. A reverse-onus situation means that Linklater will have to show the court why he should be released. Further, court hears that Linklater is currently on two separate bail orders and has a recent and related criminal record. The Crown states that release is possible, but only with an appropriate surety.

Duty counsel requests that Linklater be remanded until Monday. They say that Linklater should have a surety lined up by then. The order is made and Linklater is ordered to remain in jail until at least Monday.

Linklater is escorted back to his cell at the TBPS station where he will wait to be transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail A.K.A. โ€œThe Algoma Bed & Breakfastโ€.
