A 41-year-old JOANNE BUNTING appeared by telephone in W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court today, Sunday, April 29,2018, from the Treaty Three Police Station.
His Worship, Bruce Leaman is presiding. Provincial Crown Mary Ann Mackett assisted by Derrick Silvestro is here along with Duty Counsel Joy Wakefield.
Court hears that BUNTING was arrested last evening in WhiteDog by Treaty Three Police. The court hears allegations that BUNTING assaulted another woman with a stick.
She’s also alleged to have been in possession of an axe and knife for purposes dangerous to public peace.
Court hears that she allegedly damaged taillights on someone’s vehicle and broke windows on someone’s home.
She’s further alleged to have stolen someone’s lawnmower and damaged it.
More allegations of the second assault on the same original victim as well as assaulting 2 different Treaty Three Police Officers when they attempted to arrest her.
Police executed an arrest warrant that was issued on April 27/18 for another alleged mischief on April 26/18.
BUNTING tells the court that she doesn’t need a lawyer and she knows her way through the law system.
“I will represent myself,” she says
The Crown is opposed to her release. She’s going to stay in jail and make an appearance in Kenora Bail Court tomorrow.
