Appearing this morning in bail court by video is 33-year-old Billy-Joe Fields. Her Worship Denette Maslach accompanied by Her Worship Zelda Kitchekeesik presiding. Crown Attorney is Trevor Jukes and Duty Counsel is Andrew Desmoulin accompanied by two Lakehead University Law Students.
It is alleged that Fields had consumed alcohol and was apprehended by Greenstone OPP while on bail after being caught in the operation of a motor vehicle.
Charges laid are:
- Fail to comply with recognizance (Abstain from alcohol outside the home)
- Have alcohol in the body while operating a motor vehicle
- Blood alcohol exceed 80mg while operating a motor vehicle
Outstanding previous charges:
- Utter threats
- Criminal harassment
The crown opposes release today mentioning this is a reverse onus situation, and also wants to hear from Fields’ surety before release.
Justice Maslach remands Fields into custody for a Monday court date, by video from the Thunder Bay District Jail. Her Worship says he will be transported to the District Jail for his court date.
