At 5pm on Monday March 5th, Charles Casmey made a video appearance from the Thunder Bay Jail in Courtroom 104 before Justice of the Peace Bruce Leaman. Casmey is wearing the traditional orange jump suits of the Thunder Bay Jail. He also appears to have gotten a haircut over the past few days. The sides of his head are cleanly shaven and his Mohawk down the middle is very pronounced. He doesn’t appear to show any sign of emotion. He’s looking down at the floor a lot with his head tilted to the right.
Casmey informs the court that his lawyer is David Bruzzese. Bruzzese is not present but has left instruction with Duty Counsel James Lisowski.
Crown Attorney is Mary-Ann Mackett His Worship Leaman puts it on the record that he has no jurisdiction to deal with the murder charges.
Casmey is being held on an automatic detention order and can only have that reviewed by a Superior Court Judge. Casmey is remanded in custody to the Thunder Bay Jail on consent.
His next appearance will be by video in Courtroom 104 on Tuesday March 13,2018 to be spoken to.
