Judge Fitzpatrick is presiding. Crown Attorney Shawn Dougherty is present and defence lawyer Brennan Sacevich is present.
Kwandibens does not have phone or internet and resides in a small community of approximately 30 people called Collins, Ontario.
Collins is located about 30km West of Armstrong and is located along the CN RAIL line. It’s accessible by train, snowmobile, winter road. The Chief of Collins came to court and the victim was here to give a Victim Impact statement.
The court waits over 2 hours for Kwandibens to show up before Judge Fitzpatrick issues the arrest warrant.
It’s not the first arrest warrant issued for Kwandibens. The Judge mentions that he also missed his first day of trial last year and warrant was issued. He’s most likely in his home community of Collins and it will take some time for OPP to go arrest him.
