(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A house fire that erupted in the 2100 block of Arthur Street has resulted in an arrest.
Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service along with firefighters from the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue and paramedics from Superior North EMS responded to a call for service around 3:15 pm yesterday.
Sources indicate that the man had an argument happen in the house hold. The man threatened to burn down the house and was alleged to have been armed with a bow and arrow.
A fire ended up happening and the man escaped through a window and got onto the roof. He eventually found his way to safety by moving to the roof of a detached garage.
Once the man made it to the ground, he was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre to be assessed. He remains in hospital. Animals that reside in the house were also saved along with all humans.
Appearing in a Thunder Bay bail court this morning via telephone call from the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is 22-year-old Dino Moore. Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbons was presiding along with Crown Attorney Derrick “The Hammer” Silvestro and duty counsel lawyer Vallelonga.
Moore is being charged with arson after the fire in the 2100 block of Arthur Street West, which is the accused’s fathers house.
The Crown is opposing his release and cites the secondary ground concerns for reasons of being held. Moore declines the assistance of duty counsel and indicates he is focused on his health at this time. A request is put forward for the accused not to contact his father.
He is ordered to remain in jail until Tuesday, when he will have his next appearance in court.
