(MCDOUGALL TWP, ON) – On September 15, 2019, members from the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were investigating a complaint of an impaired driver.
At approximately 12:45 a.m. police located the suspect vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 400 in McDougall Twp. Police stopped traffic, successfully deployed a spike belt and stopped the vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and was transported to the West Parry Sound OPP detachment where further testing was conducted.
As a result of further investigation, Stacey HANBURY, age 33 of Notre Dame Du Nord, Quebec, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code,
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand, contrary to Section 320.15(1) Criminal Code, and
- Dangerous operation, contrary to Section 320.13(1) Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on October 3, 2019. The accused was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
West Parry Sound OPP have charged 49 drivers with impaired or over 80 operation of motor vehicles in 2019.
OPP are telling all drivers, “Drink and drive, the police will show you some new bars.”
