(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service have arrested a 49-year-old Shawn Pratt following reports that allege he disabled a fire alarm in a building and uttered threats to burn down the building.
Pratt appeared in a Thunder Bay bail court this morning in which he appeared from the TBPS station on Balmoral via video link. Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Zelda Kitchkeesic was presiding along with a Crown Attorney and defence lawyer Robert Habjan who appeared as agent for Johnny DeBakker.
Pratt is facing the following criminal charges stemming from a September 15th incident:
- Uttering threats to burn down apartment building.
- Mischief disabled fire alarm at a building in the 200 block of Frederica Street West.
Pratt is also facing a charge from August 16th which revolves around an alleged theft from the Metro grocery store located in the 500 block of Arthur Street. He is also sorting out allegations of a Break and Enter from a previous date as well.
The Crown states that they are opposing the release of Pratt today. Defence lawyer Habjan tells the court that his request is the matter return to court tomorrow so that a bail plan can be crafted and presented to the courts.
Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Zelda Kitchekeesic grants the request and orders Pratt to remain in jail until at least tomorrow, where he will have another shot at being released from jail. He will wait in his cell at the TBPS station until prisoners are transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail.
