“Hold and Secure” Results in Weapons Charge

(KENORA, ON) – On Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at approximately 2:40 p.m. members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident in the north side of Kenora.

Police were advised the accused was possibly carrying a weapon near a school zone.

The Kenora OPP advised all schools to place a hold and secure as a precautionary measure.

Members of the OPP, Northwest Region Canine and Northwest Emergency Response Team located the accused and is currently in police custody.

As a result of this investigation, 28 year old Darin WOOD from Kenora has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused is to appear in Kenora court on October 3, 2019 to answer to the charge.
