(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A woman was arrested by the Thunder Bay Police Service stemming from an incident which is believed to have occurred on August 7th, 2019.
37-year-old Donna Loon was arrested and held for bail court on Friday September 6th, 2019. She appeared in front of visiting Justice of the Peace Logan, a Crown Attorney and duty counsel lawyer Aranka Golphy via video link from the Thunder Bay Police Service Station.
Loon is facing a charge of Assault with a weapon (metal pipe) following the attack and subsequent arrest.
The Crown is opposing the release of Loon today, stating there are concerns surrounding the primary and secondary grounds. Primary ground concerns indicate that the Crown believes that the accused most likely won’t return to court should they be released. Secondary concerns indicate that the Crown believes the accused is likely to become a public safety concern or re-offend should they be released.
Duty counsel requests the matter be scheduled to return to court on Monday so that a date for a bail hearing may be set.
Loon is escorted back into the holding cell at the Thunder Bay Police Service station, where she will await transfer to the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre where she will wait for her Monday video appearance.
