(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Violence towards women is not cool and there is no reason to ever resort to it. Let’s take a stroll down some allegations of just that.
A 26-year-old Eric Cormier was arrested by hard-working Thunder Bay Police Service officers and was held in custody pending a court appearance.
He appeared in court this morning via video link from the Thunder Bay Police Service Station (A.K.A. “Hotel Balmoral”).
His Worship, visiting Justice of the Peace Logan from Fort Frances was presiding along with Crown Attorney Manon Arbour and duty counsel lawyer Atatise.
Cormier is facing the following charges after an alleged incident unfolded where a woman endured violence directed by him:
- Assault (on a woman).
- Mischief causing damage (cellphone and headphones).
Cormier was also arrested on matters out of Sudbury. Those charges are:
- Breaching probation order (did not notify probation of address change).
- Breaching probation order (failed to report).
- Breaching probation (was not made clear in court what this third breach was about).
Duty counsel requests that Cormier’s matter returns to court on Friday for another chance to be releaed from jail. That request is granted and his next court date is set for Friday.
Cormier will head to the Thunder Bay District Jail where he will await his scheduled court appearance on Friday. We could not confirm if he managed to pop off another selfie before his arrest.
