(THUNDER BAY, ON) – An extremely dangerous and potentially life-ending situation unfolded on Saturday.
Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a serious incident on Oliver Road which included stunt driving, dangerous driving, collisions and two damaged vehicles.
Witnesses to the incident along with a video posted to social media informed TRCCTB.COM that the suspect driving the black car had been travelling at a high rate of speed down Oliver Road. At on point the dangerous driver apparently side swiped a Jeep in what appears to be an attempt to avoid a head on collision with an oncoming vehicle.
The video, which is at the bottom of this article shows the speedometer of the alleged vehicle hitting 190km/h or close to it.
The suspect, upon exiting the vehicle after it was disabled due to a collision, is said to have been stumbling and was kicking the tires of people who pulled over to supply police with their eyewitness statements. Oliver Road was closed to traffic for a few hours following this incident.
The suspect is believed to have been apprehended by police but did not show up in bail court this weekend. Witnesses at the scene have told us that the suspect was taken in an ambulance.
This is a developing story and we will have more information as it becomes available.
