(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – A woman had a disheartening and stressful situation unfold on her yesterday, September 14th. Allegations are that the woman was assaulted and forcibly confined by a male.
Officers with the Sioux Lookout detachment responded to the situation and as a result of their investigation 30-year-old Phillip Kakekagumick has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault (on a woman).
- Forcible confinement.
- Breaching bail condition (no weapons).
Kakekagumick is already wiggling his way through the court system surrounding allegations stemming from a November 14th incident. Those charges are:
- Possess a weapon with intent to commit an offence (knife).
- Breaching probation (keep the peace and be of good behaviour).
He appeared in a Thunder Bay court room this morning via telephone call from the Sioux Lookout OPP detachment. Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Zelda Kitchkeesic was presiding along with Provincial Crown Attorney Rob Kozak, Federal Crown Attorney Alec Hardiejowski and some duty counsel representatives.
The Crowns discuss the matter with the Justice of the Peace and it is determined that Kakekagumick will be detained today. His next court date is scheduled in Kenora on Monday at 10:00am. He will be transported to the Kenora District Jail where he will wait in jail until at least Monday, when he will have another shot at regaining freedom.
