No Headlights Result in Impaired Driving Charges and More

(RED LAKE, ON) – On August 18, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers from the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle travelling onto the highway with no headlights on.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and subsequently made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample. The driver failed and was arrested for Operation While Impaired and was returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Sasha FOX, 23, of Pickle Lake, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – 80 plus contrary to Section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
  • 3x Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.

FOX was released by way of a Promise to Appear in Red Lake court on September 19, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. to begin answering to the charges.

OPP want to remind citizens that motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don’t drink and drive.
