(HEARST, ON) – On March 24, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Front Street in the Town of Hearst, Ontario.
Police investigation revealed that the male driver was impaired by alcohol.
30-year-old Nokuune KAVETERUA of Thunder Bay, Ontario, has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC).
- Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst, Ontario, on April 24, 2019, to answer to the charges.
The driver was served with a 90 day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police are asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone getting behind the wheel after having consumed intoxicating substances.
