(Mississauga, On) – The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on April 30h a significant seizure of methamphetamine and heroin at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
On Tuesday April 17, 2018, during a routine examination of luggage on a flight from Mexico, CBSA border services officers (BSO) observed anomalies on three suitcases. The suitcases were sent for a secondary inspection.
Once opened, BSOs found, in each suitcase, black nylon gym bags containing clear and taped bags of methamphetamine and heroin. This inspection resulted in a seizure of 100 kg of methamphetamine and 4 kg of heroin.
The narcotics were turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
“This significant seizure demonstrates our commitment to Canadians to intercept illegal narcotics and prevent them from getting into our communities. CBSA officers are well-trained to be on the lookout for contraband.” – Goran Vragovic, CBSA Regional Director General, Greater Toronto Area Region
