On March 21st, 2018 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Rainy River Detachment, Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the OPP Canine Unit conducted a drug investigation into the trafficking of Crystal Methamphetamine. As a result of the investigation, a quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine was seized.
As a result of the investigation , Nicole HANDORGAN (age 29) and Brandon BANANISH (age 26) of the Rainy River District, Ontario have been charged with various offences including:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Crystal Methamphetamine contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code,
Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code,
Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code,
Driving While License Under Suspension contrary to Section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Nicole HANDORGAN has been released on a Recognizance by the Ontario Court of Justice. Brandon BANANISH has been released on an Undertaking by the Ontario Court of Justice. Both have been given future court dates at the Fort Frances Ontario Court in answer to the charges.
