(DRYDEN, ON) – On April 23, 2019, the Dryden Police Service conducted a vehicle stop on highway 601 for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Dryden and was apprehended at roadside.
Officers conducted a roadside search of the vehicle the accused was driving and located drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, cocaine, and percocet along with some drug parapharnelia and Canadian currency.
The accused was identifyed by Dryden Police to be 29-year-old Benjamin Grant Fummerton, a resident of Dryden. Police tell us he was previously arrested on April 3 2019, in Winnipeg Manitoba and charged with numerous offences involving firearms and drug trafficking. (More details below).
The Dryden Police Service have laid the following new charges against Fummerton:
- Uttering (passing) Counterfeit Money
- Failure to Comply with Recognizance (Breach Bail Conditions) x3
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Opioids
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Numerous Highway Traffic Act offences.
Fummerton was scheduled to appear in a Dryden bail court today.
During the evening of April 3, 2019, Manitoba RCMP executed a search warrant under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, at a residence on Main Street in Oakbank.
RCMP seized a variety of drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl, as well as numerous firearms including two assault rifles with readily accessible ammunition and high capacity magazines.
RCMP arrested eight individuals as a result of this investigation. The following four males have been charged with numerous firearms and/or drug trafficking related offences, and remanded into custody.
- Devin Abel Fehr, 26-years-of-age
- Brendin Jon Swanson, 32-years-of-age
- Michael Johnathon Moore, 27-years-of-age
- Benjamin Fumerton, 29-years-of-age
The following four individuals have been charged with numerous firearms and drug trafficking offences, and will appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court at a later date.
- Monica Pitchenese, 22-years-of-age
- Aurora Delorme, 23-years-of-age
- Laura Powell, 24-years-of-age
- Clifford Tommy Joseph, 38-years-of-age
Fummerton has some history being charged with drug trafficking related offences. In November of 2011 Fummerton was arrested after a home on First Street was searched by police after reports of drug trafficking.
Police found cocaine, ecstasy, mushrooms, marijuana and marijuana resin.
