(DRYDEN, ON) – A recent string of thefts occurred in Dryden over the last few days. Crystal meth and other drugs are rampant in the city, resulting in a rise of property crimes along with other “crimes of opportunity. One male is in custody but it is not certain if he is responsible for all the thefts.
On August 9, 2019, the Dryden Police Service received a report that both licenses plates had been stolen from a 2006 Toyota Tundra while parked at Safeway.
On August 11, 2019, the Dryden Police Service received a call of a theft in progress at Extra Foods advising that someone had cut the locks off a propane storage unit and removed a number of propane cylinders. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. This incident in still under investigation.
On August 12, 2019 around 7:00am, the Dryden Police Service received a report from a home on First Street advising of a break and enter in progress. When Police arrived they observed male gathering property from a home and putting inside a vehicle. Upon seeing the police, the male immediately fled on foot. Police Officers pursued on foot and arrested the male a short distance later.
Arrested and charged is Brian Joseph STRICKLAND – 45-years-old of Dryden, ON. STRICKLAND faces charges of:
- Break and Enter to a Dwelling.
- 3 counts of Possession of Stolen Property.
- Theft from a motor vehicle.
- Resist Arrest.
- 2 counts of Fail to Comply with a Recognizance.
