(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On July 24, 2018, at approximately 10:56 p.m., members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a disturbance at a gas station situated on King’s Highway in Fort Frances.
Officers attended the area immediately, and learned that the suspect had fled the scene. Members commenced an investigation, and learned that three individuals had been sprayed by the suspect with a noxious substance. All three received minor injuries.
Members of the Rainy River District OPP, North West Region Emergency Response Team and a Canine Unit conducted a search of the area but were not able to locate the male.
Following further investigation, on August 8, 2018, officers arrested Joshua ENNS, 31 years of age, of Fort Frances. The accused has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:
- Three counts of Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a), and
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88.
The accused is being held in custody and has a court appearance via teleconference with the Ontario Court of Justice on August 8, 2018.
