(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On November 10, 2018, at approximately 2:09 AM, a member of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrol in the area of Portage Avenue in Fort Frances when the officer observed a pick-up truck with no tail lights illuminated.
The officer attempted to stop the truck in the area of Portage Avenue and Fifth Street East however the vehicle failed to stop for police.
Eventually police were able to stop the vehicle and speak with the driver. Upon speaking with him, the officer suspected that the driver had alcohol in his body.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Fort Frances detachment, where he underwent further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Justin HANDORGAN, 43 years of age, of Alberton Township, has been charged with the following criminal offences:
- Driving with more than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b),
- Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer contrary to section 249.1(1).
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of November 26, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances.
