(FORT FRANCES , ON) – On April 29, 2019, at approximately 11:13 AM, members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a call of a possible impaired driver in the East end of Fort Frances.
An officer subsequently located the vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop at the intersection of Second Street East and Minnie Avenue. In speaking with the driver, the officer determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.
The male was arrested and transported to the detachment, where he underwent testing.
As a result of the investigation, 57-year-old David Abercrombie of Fort Frances, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while Impaired contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
- Driving with more than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 320(14)(1)(b) of the Criminal Code,
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend court at the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on June 3, 2019.
