(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On March 15, 2019 at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver on the 200 Block of Scott Street in the Town of Fort Frances.
Officers located the vehicle and made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample. The driver subsequently failed and was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and was returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, Darren McCormick, 48, of Fort Frances, was charged with:
- Over 80 contrary to Section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
He was later released by way of a Promise to Appear in Fort Frances court on April 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. to answer to the charges.
Also on March 17, 2019 at 1:11 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on the 600 Block of Reid Avenue in the Town of Fort Frances, On. As a result, Adam Thompson, 23, of Winnipeg Manitoba was charged with:
- Impaired Driving.
- Drive with over 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
He was also released on a Promise to Appear in Fort Frances court on April 8, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
Both have had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and their motor vehicle seized for 7 days.
Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don’t drink and drive.
