(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On June 16, 2018, at approximately 12:53am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Superior North Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a single vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 11/17, near Poleline Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they observed a red sedan that had rolled over and came to rest in the north ditch. The driver was not injured.
While speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further tests.
A 63 year old male, from Oliver-Paipoonge, was arrested and charged with:
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
- Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on August 3, 2018 to answer to the charges.
