(THUNDER BAY, ONT) – Come gather at Marina Park this Saturday to celebrate the Festival of India.
The festival will be showcasing the amazing Indian culture right here in our city.
Come and enjoy some classical East Indian music, dancing, drama exhibits, a chariot parade, henna tattoos, Indian Bazaar and a free delicious feast for all to eat.
The festival begins at 3pm with yoga till 4pm. Following will be the chariot parade from 4pm to 5pm.
The chariot parade is one of the main attractions at the festival. It is a beautiful 18ft high chariot, decorated in flowers and colours. The parade symbolizes universal love and brotherhood.
From 5pm-6pm will be the Oddisi dance and from 6pm-7pm will be the Bharatanatyam dance. Followed by more traditional Indian dances up until 7:30pm.
From 7:30pm-8pm will be live Kirtan music, followed by the door prizes at 8pm.
Make sure you stay for their feast of traditional Indian food which is served to all guests. Last year over 5,000 people were served at the feast.
Come and experience the amazing sights, sounds and tastes of India right here in Thunder Bay. Admission is free, donations are welcome at the entrance.
Shuttle bus service will be running from 3pm-9pm every 30 minutes. Pick up is at the Community Auditorium. There is a charge of $1 per person (one way).
