(THUNDER BAY, ONT) – New signage is being put up around Thunder Bay by the end of this month.
It is called the Pedestrian and Cyclists Wayfinding Plan created by the City of Thunder Bay. The signs are scheduled to be installed across the city by the end of June, 2018.
The Wayfinding Plan is a system of signs and maps throughout the city to help cyclists and pedestrians find their way to key destinations.
The signs tell people where they are in the city, what they are nearby to and how to get to their destination.
The city was asking for community members to come forward with design ideas and location ideas last fall.
Some of the goals that the city wants to achieve with these new signs are to promote economic development on commercial areas of town.
The city plans to link the Wayfinding signs to unique destinations of the city, to show our history.
The Wayfinding Plan will also lead people to unique views of the city and powerful scenery. This plan will also help expand transportation oppertunities that are safe.
Keep an eye out for these new signs around Thunder Bay this summer.
