(THUNDER BAY, ONT) – With the cuts from the Greyhound bus service across Northwestern Ontario, many residents are now asking for the return of Via rail.
Comments on social media have come as an outcry from people who use the Greyhound bus service regularily.
There is a desperate need to restore Via rail. There are two Via rail lines that run through parts of northeastern and northwestern Ontario but they do not go through Thunder Bay.
Bruce Hyer, the former MP of Thunder Bay Superior North says that Canada needs a good strategy and policy with public transportation with air, rail and buses.
The closest Via rail stations are the ones in Sioux Lookout and White River. Both are roughly 4 hours from Thunder Bay.
