On February 27, 2018, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Kenora attended a local business on Ninth Street North with respect to a report of a robbery by a male wearing a ski mask with a pistol style weapon.
Members of the Kenora OPP with the assistance of the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) searched the area with negative results.
The Kenora Community Street Crime Team conducted an investigation and was able to identify a suspect.
On March 13, 2018, 27-year-old Kevin WETENDORF of Kenora was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Weapon contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was also charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
