Police Execute Warrant – Assault Causing Bodily Harm

(KENORA, ON) – Hard working officers with the Kenora detachment of the Treaty Three Police Service have made an arrest involving a 24-year-old man who had a warrant sent out for his arrest. Allegations involved a motor vehicle and a serious assault were floating around.
Craig Lavand was picked up by officers and held in custody pending his court appearance this morning. He appeared in a Thunder Bay Courthouse (A.K.A. “The In and Out Day Spa”), courtroom via telephone call from the Treaty Three Kenora detachment. His Worship, Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio as presiding along with Crown Attorney P. Pasloski and a duty counsel representative Mary Thompson.
Lavand has been arrested under the strength of a warrant. His charges are:

  • Assault causing bodily harm.
  • Take motor vehicle without consent.

At this stage he would need the Crown to agree to him being released for that to happen. After some courtroom discussions take place, Lavand is ordered to remain in jail until his next scheduled court appearance which will take place on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019.
Lavand will be shipped off to the Kenora District Jail, where he is likely to remain until at least his next court appearance.
