Two Charged After Break and Enter, Theft

(COCHRANE, ON) โ€“ On July 8, 2019, at approximately 9:40 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter call at the Polar Bear Habitat in Cochrane, Ontario.

The suspects entered the premises and stole some food items as well as a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV).

On July 9, 2019, the two suspects were located operating the UTV in the Town ofย Hallebourg, Ontario,ย and were subsequently arrested.

Nathan CHAPPELL, a 29-year-old, from London, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Break, Enter a Place โ€“ Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC,
  • Theft Over $5000, contrary to section 334(a) of the CC,
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1).

Heather ALTY, a 43-year-old, from London, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Theft Over $5000, contrary to section 334(a) of the CC.

Both accused parties are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario.
